Power to the Pedallers

September 30 2009 - (0) Comments - posted in creating excellence

Well Done to the Creating Excellence team members Michele, Katie, honourary member James and myself who took part in the Prince’s Trust, Palace to Palace cycle ride on Sunday 27th September.

It was an early and chilly start on The Mall Sunday morning, with our cycle ride kicking off at 8.30am.

I had been a little apprehensive about the 45 mile cycle ride, particularly once Katie had pointed out that the direct route between the start and finish (Buckingham Palace to Winsor Castle) was 21.6 miles… I felt a bit like I’d been taken for a mug!

Once we got started though I knew it was going to be alright. The route was beautifully scenic taking us firstly though London, along the Thames, over Putney Bridge…

“It’s been an interesting couple of weeks for me since the Paracycling World Road Championships were held in Italy. I’ve now fully recovered from the crash I had just a couple of days before the event started and have raced again in the Women’s National Time Trial Series here at home. It wasn’t until I raced again that i realised how affected by the crash I had been out in Italy and after beating a quality women’s field by 2 minutes and 30 seconds, I think I could have ridden a good deal faster in Italy if the crash hadn’t happened.

Another interesting point has been watching the World Championships Road Time Trial at the able-bodied World Championships. The event is being held a few miles…

Another Successful Fit For Business Networking Event

September 24 2009 - (1) Comments - posted in fit for business

On Thursday 17th September, as part of the ‘Wellbeing in the East’ project, Fit For Business held the second networking event of the year. Our aim was to share good practice with clients and to identify how to organise a fun physical activity event.

Champions from all over the East of England participated in the event including Hertfordshire County Council, Living Sport, and various Borough Councils.
In the morning session, clients participated in a ‘sports day’ facilitated by the FFB staff. Events included a 100m race, long jump, turbo javelin, space hopper race and a tug of war. There were some impressive performances due to a healthy dose of competitive spirit and sense of fun!
The afternoon session consisted…

Great News that England Women’s Football Team have reached the final of the European Cup

September 10 2009 - (0) Comments - posted in role models

It ‘s great news that the England Women’s Football Team have reached the final of the European Cup, something the men’s team senior team have yet to achieve.
My colleagues and I along with 4000 fans were fortunate enough to watch the Ladies play a friendly match against Iceland in the lead up to the competition.  We all turned up at Weston Homes Community Stadium in Colchester full of anticipation, after 25 minutes Iceland scored, Magnusdottir gave Iceland the lead with her left foot and later in the closing stages her team mate Vidarsdóttir sealed England’s fate.
Fast forward 6 weeks, what can I say, the Ladies are in the final of the European Cup, they play England’s “Arch” rivals Germany, will the trophy…

Andy Mouncey Blog - My Son, The Networker

September 10 2009 - (0) Comments - posted in inspirational speakers

Tom (2) has an ever-increasing following in our village of people who smile and greet him, ladies who want to take him home, and blokes who drive Big Trucks. As far as we can tell, he has done this simply by smiling and waving at everyone he meets while looking very cute!
Now most of us are way beyond help re this latter factor (!) but here’s a thing I’ve noticed: When he’s locked on, he’s really locked on. It might only be for three seconds sometimes, but in those three seconds you are in the Tom Tractor Beam! Complete and utter sincerity projected right atcha at 20 zillion watts!
All of which leads me to conclude that my efforts at doing the Sexy Domesticated Dad routine to grow my network are woefully inadequate……

Sarah Storey OBE – 12 months since Beijing (sent from Team Hotel at the World Road Championships)

September 10 2009 - (0) Comments - posted in inspirational speakers

Cast your mind back 12 months… Can you remember exactly what you were doing on September 8th, 10th and 12th 2008?

It could be tricky trying to remember the specifics, unless, that is, you were marking an anniversary of some kind! For me, remembering what I was doing from 8th to 12th September 2008, will never be hard, as it is the week my life changed and I proved myself as a Paralympic cyclist after so many years as a Paralympic swimmer!
Sitting here twelve months on from that life-changing week, I glow with pride, shiver with goose bumps and look forward to my next race and the opportunity to prove I have improved since the Games in Beijing.

So much has happened since we landed back on home soil after the Games. To…

Have You LinkedIn

September 02 2009 - (0) Comments - posted in creating excellence

At Creating Excellence we understand the importance of using new technologies in our business, one such form of this is LinkedIn.

LinkedIn is one of the new breed of social networks, although unlike Facebook and Myspace which are all about building your social calendar, LinkedIn is purely business focused.

It’s not about collecting and gathering “friends”, it’s about building relationships with new & existing business contacts and utilising those contacts to build a stronger network to grow your brand reputation. Effectively it’s based on the theory of “six degrees of separation”.

SO HOW DO…
