Another Successful Fit For Business Networking Event

September 24 2009

On Thursday 17th September, as part of the ‘Wellbeing in the East’ project, Fit For Business held the second networking event of the year. Our aim was to share good practice with clients and to identify how to organise a fun physical activity event.

Champions from all over the East of England participated in the event including Hertfordshire County Council, Living Sport, and various Borough Councils.
In the morning session, clients participated in a ‘sports day’ facilitated by the FFB staff. Events included a 100m race, long jump, turbo javelin, space hopper race and a tug of war. There were some impressive performances due to a healthy dose of competitive spirit and sense of fun!
The afternoon session consisted of a presentation and interactive tasks led Sarah Thompson, one of the FFB Health Promotion Specialists. Sarah set a number of thought provoking tasks for clients to think about;

· What event they wanted
· Who the event is aimed at
· What their budget for the event is
· How they promote the event
· How can they get as many people in the event

The networking event was a great success with participant feedback including:

“The event was well organised and enjoyed by everyone who took part”

“Good, competitive & fun day, useful to pick up ideas & network”

“Fantastic fun, we’re eagerly awaiting photos and videos”

Take at look at the photo (below) from the event to see for yourselves what an enjoyable and successful a day it was.

What a great day!

I remember sports day at school being lots of fun, and this certainly brought back all the memories! Its definitely an event that should run more often and features high in my plans.

I loved the use of fun activities and inclusion aspect.

Can we have this as a regular event but with perhaps each workplace sending in teams? Actually maybe that’s something I should arrange? All businesses in Peterborough and Fenland that are interested in the idea then get in touch!
