Fit For Business ‘Network Event’ by Sheila Warnes

Feeling shattered, bit depressed as Champions all tired, just really not sure if we have the energy to continue another year as a champion, even though we had just received our accreditation following a successful first year was the way I came to the Networking Event at Chelmsford.

It was an inspirational experience, time to relax, chat, listen and learn and to come away feeling encouraged and regenerated. The proof of the pudding is in the eating, and I came back, yes the problems are the same, I have no more hours in the day or evening, but I have set up and run within the month a full day heath awareness event enabling staff to have a hour off to have the opportunity to have a health check, visit other stands of interest to their health and well being including using the ‘Smoothie Bike’ or a back massage, entering in for one of the prizes and at the least coming away with a heart stress ball.

Any way I am going home with all my work, I have lots to do before I go off on holiday and then I am in the fresh air (I’m not going to Mexico, only Northern Ireland climbing the Mountains of Mourne I have given staff the challenge to do the virtual climb up Slieve Donnard while I do it the more normal way - that is if the weather is good, I seem to have been up it in the snow, fog and the sunshine so maybe its rain this time, but who cares its great just being out and about.

Thank you Creating Excellence and Andy for the inspirational session, the opportunity to network as well as a lovely buffet to get our focus back on what we are trying to achieve - not to change the whole world but to enable some colleagues to start on a route to a healthier lifestyle.
