Stephen Miller is Throwing the Distance for Sport Relief

Triple gold medal winning Paralympian Stephen Miller will be rising to the challenge for Sport Relief later this month, by attempting to throw a club consecutively for a mile against the clock.
Stephen will be attempting the challenge at Gateshead Stadium at 11am on the 23rd February and is aiming to reach the one mile target in under an hour. To achieve this he will need to throw at least one club a minute with an average throw of 30 metres. His average throw distance for his last competitive season was 31 metres so the challenge is going to be both physically and mentally demanding.

Commenting on the challenge Stephen said: “I wanted to really push myself and do something a bit different for Sport Relief 2010. This will definitely be one of the most difficult challenges I
have ever attempted but I am ready to rise to the challenge and would like everyone to get behind me and show their support by sponsoring me at: http://www.justgiving.com/throwing-a-mile

Stephen who is from Cramlington, Northumberland competes in field athletics including the club (javelin/hammer), discus and shot put. He has represented Great Britain for over 10 years, competing in four Paralympic Games, three World Championships and two European Championships.
