Paralympic Cyclist Sarah Storey named as The Sunday Times Disabled Sportswoman of the Year

Paralympic Cyclist Sarah Storey was yesterday named as The Sunday Times Disabled Sportswoman of the Year.

Sarah who was unable to attend the awards as she is in training for the UCI World Track championships was absolutely delighted with the award which was accepted by sports presenter Jill Douglas on her behalf.

More than 250 distinguished guests including the Sports Minister Gerry Sutcliffe , rugby world cup winner Lawrence Dallaglio and Pat Cash attended The Sunday Times Sportswoman of the Year awards which was held at the David Beckham Academy in London.

The winner was Chrissie Wellington, the current world record-holder and Ironman Triathlon champion, in second place was World Champion pentathlete Jessica Ennis, and in third place cyclist Victoria Pendleton, who won a third successive world sprint title, the only British Olympic champion to experience success in Poland in March,
